CAIRO, July 14 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh Al-Malki Monday called for a UN Security Council's foreign minister's meeting to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza, just like the UNSC to end the Israeli onslaught in late 2008.
Al-Malki, at his speech before the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting, held at the request of Kuwait, said the Palestinian people have been exposed to an Israeli "genocide.
"We are not talking about an Israeli escalation which not only destroys the two-state solution but is a genocide against the Palestinian people in all territories," he said.
He said the UNSC should pass a resolution that condemned the Israeli government and held it fully responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
Al-Malki called on the importance of immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and providing urgent humanitarian aid for the needy in Gaza, as well as treating the wounded.
He called for accepting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' request for UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to place the land of the State of Palestine under international protection, in order to enable Palestine exercise sovereignty.
Abbas, he added, also called for holding an UN-sponsored conference for the international protection of the Palestinian people.
Al-Malki said it was important to return to the 2012 ceasefire, compel Israel to abide by the Fourth Geneva Convention, forming work groups to document the Israeli racist policies, establishing a fund to rebuild Gaza and allowing the Palestinian people determine their own destiny.
Al-Malki said the Israeli government has launched a "terrorist political and diplomatic campaign" since Abbas formed a government of national unity with Hamas, with the aim of undermining the Palestinian reconciliation. He cited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who said "either peace with Hamas or peace with Israel." The Israeli occupation authorities were demolishing houses and killing people and children, like Mohammad Abu Khudhair, in addition to arresting more than 1,000 Palestinians, and now bombing Gaza by warplanes, artillery and naval warships.
The Israeli government, said Al-Malki, bombed a house in Gaza as well as worshippers while they were leaving the mosque killing more than 18 people and wounding over 50 others.
The Israeli war against the Palestinian people, which included the disabled as well, were not a war against Hamas but against the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights. (pickup previous) kt.bs
