AMMAN, June 20 (KUNA) -- The Secretariat General of the Federation of Arab Journalists meeting, which will be held in Ramallah on Saturday, will shed a special light on supporting the Palestinian cause.
First deputy Chairman of Federation, and head of the Iraqi Journalists' Union, Moaid Allami told KUNA that participants discussed in a preparatory session, held Friday, the reality of journalistic freedom in the Arab region. They also tackled agreements that were signed in the Federation's previous meetings.
Allami said that tomorrow's meeting will focus on supporting the safety of Palestinian journalists who get arrested or get killed by the Israeli forces; setting up workshops related to the safety of Arab journalists will be on the agenda as well.
He pointed out that Federation will also organize regular visits to a number of Arab countries where it will seek support from officials to encourage journalists to practice their career professionally and transparently.
He added that the next meeting of the Federation of Arab Journalists will be held in Morocco.
On his part, treasure of Kuwait Journalists Association, Adnan Al-Rashid said that holding tomorrow's meeting in Ramallah was agreed upon in a previous meeting of the Federation. Choosing Ramallah to be this year's host stems out of the importance of supporting the Palestinian cause and alleviating the suffering of its people. (end) hmf.nfm
