AMMAN, May 10 (KUNA) -- The Jordanian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that a male nurse, working at a private hospital, tested positive for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS or coronavirus).
The man, in his 50s, was in contact with a MERS patient; he suffered respiratory problems on Thursday and was diagnosed as the ninth case with the virus today, said director of the Ministry's communicable diseases dept. Dr. Mohammad Al-Abdullat.
Four of the nine patients have died since the detection of the first confirmed case in the Kingdom in 2012, Dr. Al-Abdellat noted, citing statistics of the ministry. (end) ab.gb
