KUWAIT, Nov 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Disabled Sport Club is to host here Saturday West Asia Wheelchair Basketball Federation meetings, with representatives of the continental body's member states attending.
Speaking to KUNA on the event, the president of the club, Shafi Al-Hajri said the meeting will mainly discuss a specific timetable for Asian championships at the level of national teams and clubs.
It will also consider the first-ever championship of west Asian wheelchair basketball teams, which will directly take prospective winners to Asian and world wheelchair basketball events, he said.
Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have already asked for hosting this championship, Al-Hajri pointed out.
He unveiled that the West Asia Wheelchair Basketball Federation would hold soon several specialized courses in the areas of refereeing, training and rating with the goal of upgrading the level of the member states' personnel.
Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine and Kuwait are scheduled to partake in the sports event. (end) fsa.tb.mt KUNA 151803 Nov 13NNNN
