DAMASCUS, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- The Syrian government warned Thursday against
dangerous impacts if armed groups' possession of weapons of mass destruction
(WMD) or chemical weapons, which would "pose a threat to Syria and the region."
The Syrian government's warning came in a letter sent to committees in the
UN Security Council specialized in the fight against terrorism, quoted by
official news agency (SANA).
The letter noted a group affiliated to Al-Qaeda, arrested in Turkey and
consisting of Syrian and Turkish people, accused of attempting to acquire
materials used to manufacture the Sarin gas.
The government urged the UNSC committees to verify the materials used in an
attack used in different parts of the country.
It also asked the committees to force the Turkish government to include
neighboring countries in the investigations with members of
Al-Qaeda-affiliated group. (end)
