ISLAMABAD, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- At least four Pakistani people were injured including a soldier a result of firing by Indian troops at Nikial sector of the northern Pakistan side of Kashmir along the Line of control (LoC) early on Sunday.
According to officials, heavy shelling continued during the early hours on Sunday by Indian troops, wounding a Pakistani soldier and three civilians.
On Saturday, two Pakistani civilians were wounded in Nakial sector as Indian troops continued to violate cease-fire along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to an official, despite Pakistan showing restrain, Indian forces continued unprovoked mortar firing and shelling in Pakistan administered Kashmir injuring two more civilians.
Military officials told KUNA the Indian Army in different areas of Nakial sector has fired over 800 mortar shells during the last three days.
A senior official of the local administration confirmed that a soldier and three civilians sustained injuries in Kanate area of Nakial sector as Indian Army troops opened unprovoked firing. He further said that the Pakistani Army retaliated for "the Indian aggression," but Indian troops started to target the civilian population with heavy weapons.
Tension between India and Pakistan rose as five Indian soldiers were ambushed and killed in a remote district along the disputed Kashmir region. India has accused Pakistani soldiers to be involved in the attack but the Foreign Office has denied the involvement of Pakistan's Army. The latest incidents of firing by Indian troops wounded at least 12 civilians, including three women, in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.
Earlier, the Foreign Office spokesman, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry, said Pakistan had already apprised India of its concern over the situation on the Line of Control (LoC) and all communication channels between the two countries were open. (end) sbk.asa KUNA 181259 Aug 13NNNN
