BAGHDAD, July 19 (KUNA) -- At least 32 Iraqis were killed and 44 others injured when twin blasts hit Abu Bakar Al-Sedeq Mosque in Al-Meqdadiah neighborhood, northwest Baghdad.
A security source told KUNA that a bomb left near the entrance of the Sunni mosque was blown off as worshipers were leaving after Friday mid-day prayers.
Then a suicide bomber detonated himself among the fearful worshipers who were rushing to leave the mosque after first blast.
More than 460 people have been killed in militant attacks in July so far, according to violence monitoring group Iraq Body Count.
Tension runs high among Iraqi Shiites and Sunnis in the past months as wave of bombing attacks have recently targeted worship places and worshippers of both sects.
Tension is also festering between the government of Maliki, a Shiite, and Iraqi Sunnis who accuse authorities of marginalizing and targeting their community, including through wrongful detentions and accusations of involvement in terrorism. (end) mhg.ibi KUNA 192042 Jul 13NNNN
