The two hour and a half meeting tackled latest issues of the Palestinian territories under Israeli occupation in Jerusalem, the Turkish Premier's Press Office announced in a brief statement Tuesday evening.
The meeting, attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, also tackled bilateral relations between the two sides, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East, focusing on the Syrian crisis, the statement added.
According to Turkish news reports, the meeting discussed Erdogan's upcoming visit to Gaza, which was supposed to be conducted last May, but postponed by US demands as it coincided with the Turkish Premier's visit to the US in mid-May.
There is still no fixed date for Erdogan's visit to Gaza, which consists of tackling need to complete the reconciliation process between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, and to agree on the formation of a single Palestinian government, said sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Erdogan expressed his intentions to visit Gaza last month, media speculated reasons for the visit's postponement was due to internal developments in Turkey after the bombings that took place on May 11 in Al-Rihaniya village, adjacent to the Syrian borders, in addition to the outbreak of anti-government protests in several Turkish cities.
