BEIRUT, May 27 (KUNA) -- A missile was fired from the area between Burj Al-Muluk and Deir Mimas in Marjeyoun District, northern Lebanon, towards the Palestinian territories, official media said.
Lebanese military and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) sent out patrols to the area, but no information was found about the exact place that the rocket hit, the local official media added.
Meanwhile, two Israeli warplanes penetrated Lebanon airspace above the village of Aitaroun, circling over various areas.
Despite Security Council resolution 1701 which ended the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict and boosted UNIFIL presence, there was no stop of Israeli violations, which have in fact escalated of late.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Army is still looking for a rocket it is claiming was fired from Lebanon at northern Israel.
Inspections are concentrated around the village of Matala near the Lebanese borders, where the residents said they heard "a loud rocket explosion," an Israeli Army spokesperson told Radio Israel on Monday.
The spokesman quoted the residents as saying, "There are no damages or casualties." Residents in northern Lebanon, as well as Lebanese security sources, said that this rocket was fired towards Israel from Marjeyoun Districtt, which is 10 kilometers away from the Lebanese-Israeli borders.
The authorities did not open shelters for the area's residents, an official from local authorities in northern Israel was quoted as saying by Israeli radio. "But we are now preparing for such measures," he added.(end) mah.mzt.ba KUNA 271009 May 13NNNN
