RIYADH, May 9 (KUNA) -- Precautionary measures taken against the spread of novel coronavirus have been effective in reducing the appearance of new cases in the eastern governorate of Al-Ahsa, Saudi Health Ministry confirmed Thursday.
The Ministry urged, in a press statement, to follow health instructions to prevent the spread of the respiratory infection. As general precautions, constant washing of hands with water, soap and disinfectants, especially after sneezing or coughing, is advised. Using tissues while sneezing or coughing and avoiding direct hand-to-eye, hand-to-nose, or hand-to-mouth contact is also required to help contaminate the spread of the infection.
Two new cases of Coronavirus were registered: a 58-year-old who received treatment and was discharged after two days of being admitted into hospital and a 42-year-old who is still under treatment.
Coronavirus, also known (nCoV) is one of strains of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus. The strain is shrouded in mystery, and the World Health Organization (WHO) does not yet know how it is transmitted or how widespread it is.
On Tuesday, the Saudi Health Ministry announced that it registered around 13 confirmed cases of infection with Coronavirus, seven of them passed away. Most of cases are found in Al-Ahsa Governorate. (end) ad.lb KUNA 091030 May 13NNNN
