BAGHDAD, April 13 (KUNA) -- Turnout of voting of Iraqi policemen and soldiers in the country's provincial elections Saturday hit a record 72 percent, the independent electoral commission said.
Commission chairman Sarbat Mustafa told a news conference the 72 percent turnout was the highest in "history of voting." The servicemen cast their ballots a week ahead of the main voting.
Mustafa said the turnout did not include provinces of Anbar and Nineveh, where voting has been delayed because of security uncertainty.
He said the voting was smooth, but added that votes would not be counted but after the end of the final vote on April 20. (end) ahh.bs KUNA 132102 Apr 13NNNN
