KUWAIT, April 9 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said on Tuesday that the recently-approved media draft law will likely bolster Kuwaiti media.
In a press statement after the inauguration of the 19th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Sheikh Salman said that the draft law will address any transgressions to media laws and regulations without dealing with them as crimes worthy of being punished through the penal code.
The minister added that with regard to all social media services no license would be needed from the Information Ministry to issue an account, and should a case involving these services come into lawful questioning, it would be handled with the parameters of media laws set by the ministry not by the penal code ones.
Sheikh Salman noted that the draft law will now be subjected to constitutional scrutiny before being turned over to the national assembly for further perusal. (end) hrz.om.tb.mb KUNA 091824 Apr 13NNNN
