ISLAMABAD, April 7 (KUNA) -- An 18-inch gas pipeline was blown up on Sunday in the southwestern Pakistan reducing over 500 megawatt of power generation.
According to the official reports, the explosion suspended gas supply to the Uch power plant in Balochistan province of southwestern Pakistan causing a reduction of more than 525 megawatts of power generation. Power supply in many areas of Punjab province has been cut off.
Earlier, two days ago, a gas pipeline was blown in Quetta city of Balochistan causing a reduction in power generation up to 150 megawatts. Habibullah Coastal Power and Sheikh Munda Power Houses are still closed due to the blown up gas pipeline.
The overall shortfall of electricity in the country has exceeded 5,000 mega watts. According to the officials, the repairing of pipeline may take two days. Some unknown miscreants blew up the gas pipeline, local media reports said. (end) sbk.tg KUNA 071619 Apr 13NNNN
