PARIS, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- French Foreign Ministry said here on Monday that it
summoned the Iraqi Ambassador in Paris to express its concern over situation
of French journalist Nadir Nendoune, currently detained in Iraq.
Iraqi Ambassador to France Fareed Yasseen has been summoned by the French
government to explain the status of Nendoune, who has not been able to return
to France despite his release days ago, Foreign Ministry spokesman Philippe
Lalliot said in a press briefing.
Lalliot added that establishing a state law in Iraq and other countries was
based mainly on necessary respect of public freedoms, stressing importance of
guaranteeing full exercise of consular service.
In mid-February, Iraqi authorities have announced the release of Nendoune
after weeks of his detention for charges of photographing a water treatment
plant without a pre-authorization. (end)
