PARIS, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- French President Francois Hollande lamented the loss of another French journalist in Syria on Sunday, the third national to die in the two-year-old conflict.
Hollande learned "with emotion" about the death of news photographer Olivier Voisin, 38, who was hit by shrapnel from shelling Thursday by Syrian army forces while he was on site among opposition forces in Idlib.
Despite being transported to a Turkish hospital, the photographer died from head and arm wounds after surgery.
"His death reminds us tragically of the risks taken by journalists to inform our fellow citizens, no matter what the dangers," Hollande said in a statement.
The French leader said this kind of courage should be recognized and he expressed condolences to the family, relatives and colleagues of the killed journalist. (End) jk.rk KUNA 250908 Feb 13NNNN
