UNITED NATIONS, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- Syria's Permanent Delegate to the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari on Thursday called on the Security Council to denounce "the acts of terrorism" that took place in Damascus earlier today.
In two almost identical letters to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the Security Council President Ambassador Kim Sook, Al-Jaafari said his country hopes that the Security Council will be able to reaffirm commitment to the fight against terrorism.
"The Council has to denounce unequivocally the terrorist acts, thus sending a clear message to the terrorist groups and their supporters that there is no use of double standards," he added.
The call of the Syrian envoy follows deadly blasts that rocked the capital city of his country and left scores of casualties. (end) sj.gb KUNA 220055 Feb 13NNNN
