By Mashaael Basheer (with photos) COLOMBO, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- A group of female high school students, taking part in the "be distinguished" program, appreciated the contributions of Kuwait to the development in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to KUNA on Sunday, one day after arriving here for trip in the south Asian country, Fatma Malallah said she was looking forward to know more about the activities of Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in Sri Lanka.
"I didn't imagine how beautiful this country is and how scenic the Sri Lankan cities are," she said, thanking KFAED organizing the trip in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
Sundus Al-Jarki, another female student, said: "KFAED's recreational and cultural initiative provided us with an opportunity to improve our knowledge about the civilization, development and tourist attractions in Sri Lanka." Led by Amira Al-Kandari, the delegation includes Sarah Al-Farsi and Sharifa Al-Sabah from KFAED, Dina Al-Ateeqi and Lulwa Al-Shuwaiti from the Ministry of Education and students Hajar Muhanna, Anwaar Al-Otaibi, Noura Al-Mutairi, Noura Bin Eid, Suad Al-Asfour, Fatma Malallah, Rawan Bunajma, Reem Al-Enezi, Aljawhara Al-Adwani, Sundus Al-Jarki and Abla Al-Haddad.
The visitors started their trip here with a call to the Old Parliament Building and then proceeded to the Gangaramaya Temple, the Independence Square and the Colombo Secretariat.
They are scheduled to visit the development project of Mahaweli River being implemented by KFAED since 2006 which aim to promote agricultural production and create more jobs for the Sri Lankans.
