RIYADH, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- The 2nd Gulf Economic Media Forum on Wednesday
kick-started in the eastern Saudi city of Dammam.
In a keynote speech during the two-day forum, Chairman of the Saudi Radio
and Television Authority Abdulrahman Al-Hazza warned of using social
communication networks in fomenting sedition and spreading rumors.
He said the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states have managed to
fend off the reflections of the global financial crisis.
He lauded the GCC member states' achievements in the world of information
and communications, which have enabled audiovisual media to reach out the
whole world and, thence, to deliver information to economists in a swift and
reliable manner.
The Saudi media official stressed the significant role by economic media in
presenting fruitful thoughts and visions with a view to pushing forward the
wheel of development in the GCC countries for the sake of sustainable
development. (end)
