BAGHDAD, Feb 3 (KUNA) -- Two booby-trapped cars blasted in Kirkuk killing 30 Iraqis, and injuring 75 others on Sunday, followed by a group of gunmen opening fire and throwing hand grenades at the city's Police General Directorate.
Director of the Civil Defense Police of Kirkuk, Brigadier Nasih Abdulqqader told KUNA that the attack resulted in the death of 30 Iraqis including policemen, while 75 others were injured so far. Victims are still being lifted from under the rubbles.
Two boob-trapped cars driven by suicide attackers exploded in front of Kirkuk Police Directorate General, 250 kilometers from Bagdad, a source in the Iraqi Police reported.
It was directly followed by an attack of a group of gunmen opening fire and throwing hand grenades at the Directorate's policemen.
A suicide bomber dressed in a military custom and an explosive belt, tried to storm into the Police station, was immediately killed by policemen before he blew himself up.
The Policemen and rapid intervention forces shutdown the scene, and roads leading to it, while ambulances rushed to transfer the casualties to the city's hospital. (end) mhg.sbr.lb KUNA 031214 Feb 13NNNN
