KUWAIT, Jan 30 (KUNA) -- Iran Wednesday said a political solution was the
only way out of the Syrian crisis, thanking His Highness the Amir of Kuwait
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for hosting a donor conference to help
the Syrian refugees, whose number is increasing in neighboring countries.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir
Abdullahian, at a news conference on sidelines of the International
Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria, said Iran was in contact with the
Syrian opposition forces which believed in the political solution for the
conflict.
"We think a national dialogue and political understanding is the only way
to address the Syrian crisis," he said.
Abdullahian said Iran supported Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad desire to
end the conflict.
Iran, since the beginning of the crisis, has been offering USD 200 million
worth of humanitarian aid for the Syrian people in and outside their country,
like medicine, food and clothes, he said.
Iranian teams are carrying out repairs in the power stations and hospitals
damaged by the conflict, he added.
Abdullahian said Iran was ready to continue provision of aid for the Syrian
refugees in Lebanon and Jordan. (end)
