BAGHDAD, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- At least 12 people were killed and 165 others were injured in explosion of two booby-trapped cars in the northern cities of Kirkuk and Tuz Khurmato on Wednesday.
The twin deadly bombing followed a recent deadliest wave of bombings taking place in Iraq and a day after assassination of a parliament member in a suicide explosion.
"A suicide bomber attacked, with his booby-trapped car, a compound of the buildings of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Baba Karkar TV station, killing eight people and wounding 125 others," a police source told KUNA.
There was a second explosion in Kirkuk by a booby-trapped car parked on side of a road near the Directorate of Criminal Evidence, which claimed the lives of two and wounded 15 others, the source said.
Another car bomb blast, which took place in Tuz Khurmato in Salah Al-Deen district, north of Baghdad, killed at least two persons and injured 25 others.
The police said the blast targeted an office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, causing serious material damage to the building and killing several Peshmerga (Kurdish paramilitary militia) members.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen attacked a police car and killed three policemen, using silencers, in the district of Basateen in the northern Shaab neighborhood, north-eastern Baghdad. (end) mhg.ba KUNA 161259 Jan 13NNNN
