ISLAMABAD, Jan 6 (KUNA) -- At least 16 suspected militants were killed and more than five others wounded in a US missile strike on Sunday in Pakistan's bordering tribal agency of South Waziristan.
The latest strike took place in Latta district of the agency and the target was a training camp, being run by Tehrik-i-Taliban's Hakim-ullah Mehsud group, security sources told KUNA.
Sources said that US pilotless aircrafts fired about eight missiles at the compound that killed 16 suspected militants and wounded over five others. However, there were no reports of any Taliban commander being killed in the attack.
The latest attack took place two days after Mullah Nazir, commander of another Taliban faction, was killed in a drone strike. The killing of Mullah Nazir had already created tension in the agency. Hundreds of his supporters on Saturday protested over his killing in Wana, the main city of the agency. (end) amn.hb KUNA 061644 Jan 13NNNN
