DOHA, Jan 1 (KUNA) -- Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani said here Tuesday that his country is committed to providing gas supplies to meet world needs of clean energy.
In an exclusive interview to Qatar's Country Report 2012, Sheikh Hamad said several countries are experiencing real energy crises, vowing that Qatar would ensure energy security and boost world economy.
He added that world economies have suffered major transformations and developments that have affected the ability of many developing countries to achieve general development goals.
He pointed to share disparity in available energy sources in different countries as many world populations are lacking in minimum necessary energy.
The Qatari emir went on to say that developed countries share responsibility towards energy consumers and exporters by means of pushing forward the wheel of sustainable development in developing and poor nations.
Sheikh Hamad noted that this can be achieved only through contributing to the development process in developing countries; mainly aid in financial, educational, health, training and infrastructure domains.
In this context, he added, Qatar attaches much attention to this issue as part of its vision for 2013 goals, which are primarily meant to contribute to world security and peace through political and developmental initiatives. (end) ma.mt KUNA 011827 Jan 13NNNN
