ANKARA, Dec 27 (KUNA) -- Turkish civil society organizations, officials,
institutions and unions will join government starting on Thursday an aid
campaign for Syrians in refugee camps in Turkey, one day following Turkish
religious organizations launched a similar campaign.
Turkish local media said the campaign coincided with a ceremony in Istanbul
attracting around 200 institution for the same goal.
Earlier, Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management
Directorate (AFAD) said that there were 147,107 Syrians currently staying in
Turkey after fleeing clashes in their country.
AFAD said that it had set up five tent cities in Hatay, two in Sanliurfa,
three in Gaziantep and one each in Osmaniye, Kahramanmaras and Adiyaman and
one container camp in Kilis.
AFAD said that Syrian citizens taking shelter in Turkey were provided with
lodging, food, health services, security, social activities, education,
religious services, translation services and communications. (end)
