ROME, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- Two Italian fighter jets in Afghanistan have destroyed two Taliban's telecommunication and radio broadcast antennas, in a second operation of its kind against facilities of Taliban militias, the general command of Italian air forces announced on Friday.
In a statement, the general command mentioned that two of its AMX fighter jets, operating within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), have destroyed two telecommunication antennas, which were used by group of armed militias in the district of Bakwa in Afghanistan's western Farah province, by laser-guided bombs (LGB).
It said that destroying those antennas was considered the fighter jets' second target during the past few weeks, noting that the destroyed antennas were equipped with solar-energy panels, which were installed on top of a mountain and were revealed by analytical images taken by AMX's surveillance systems.
Furthermore, the statement noted that the operation were executed with participation of the remote piloted General Atomics MQ-1 Predator, which monitored the area for a period of time until it found the two antennas. (end) mn.ma KUNA 072340 Dec 12NNNN
