KUWAIT, Oct 30 (KUNA) -- Beginning Wednesday, October 31, 2012 and until November 9, 2012, the door will be open for those who wish to register to enter parliamentary elections set for December 1st, 2012, announced the ministry of interior in a statement issued today in the government gazette Kuwait Al-Youm.
The statement listed the requirements for the would-be candidates for seats in the parliament, among which being the necessity to have a Kuwaiti citizenship, be able to read and write, be at least 30 years of age, and have an immaculate criminal record.
Candidates who wish to register must pay a deposit of KD 500 to election board authorities, provided they only register in one electoral district or constituency, said the statement.
It added that people who hold government jobs or work in the court system must resign from their jobs in order to qualify to register to become a candidate for elections. That goes for those who work in the armed forces as well. (end) msh.ajs KUNA 301522 Oct 12NNNN
