BEIRUT, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly expressed "grave concern with Syrias continued shelling of and incursions into Lebanons border region, said a US embassy statement on Thursday.
After her meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati the US ambassador affirmed that "the responsibility for the violence in Syria and the violence that threatens to spill over from Syria falls squarely on the Assad regime," according to a received copy to KUNA of a statement issued by the US Embassy in Lebanon.
Connelly stressed that the US expects "the Syrian regime to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon." The meeting between US ambassador and Miqati discussed the political and security situation in Lebanon and regional developments, the statement noted.
Meanwhile, Lebanon witnessed yesterday in south of Bekaa Syrian violations such as house searches and firing of missiles on the border. (end) oh.hs KUNA 041738 Oct 12NNNN
