GAZA, June 28 (KUNA) -- A member of the Palestinian Islamic group, Hamas, was assassinated in his house in Syria, Hamas said in a statement on Thursday.
The organization mourned Kamal Hosni Ghanaja, also known as Nezar Abu Mujahed, who was killed in his house in the Syrian capital.
Meanwhile, Israel radio quoted intelligence sources as as saying that the slain Hamas activist was involved in smuggling arms from Iran to Gaza, and that he was deputy of Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh, who was assassinated in Dubai, two years ago.
Dubai's police had declared that 26 persons who carried European passports were involved in the killing of Al-Mabhouh and accused the Israeli intelligence, the Mossad, of engineering the operation. (end) mzt.rk KUNA 280927 Jun 12NNNN
