(With photos) DUBAI, June 7 (KUNA) -- It was announced here on Thursday that the emirate of Dubai is to host the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup championship for five straight years starting from 2012 and until 2017, in which is considered as a new organizational sporting gain for the emirate.
The announcement came during a press conference that was held here in presence of Mattar Al-Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, Joan Cusco, FIFA Beach Soccer CEO and FIFA Board Member, and elite of UAE sporting leaderships and media representatives.
On his part, Al-Tayer said, in a speech, that his country is very proud of linking this important championship to Dubai for the next five years that the UAE audience would enjoy watching elite of world teams and intercontinental champions, in which UAE team is among, compete for the championship title.
He added that the Dubai Sports Council is proud of Dubai's attaining the title of the 2011 best sporting city in the Middle East, in accordance with Sport Business ranking, pointing out that the council continue working under the framework of a studied strategic plan for development of sporting sector in Dubai.
