BRUSSELS, April 27 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) Friday expressed concerns about the continuation of violence despite the ceasefire which was accepted by the Syrian regime.
"Clearly the Syrian government is not fulfilling its obligations. They promised to withdraw their military forces. The haven't done that," Michael Mann, Spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, told journalists in Brussels.
He stressed the importance to get the UN observers inside Syria, noting that "the presence of the observers will change the situation on the ground." The EU is prepared to support that mission in technical terms, he added. (end) nk.mt KUNA 271703 Apr 12NNNN
