CAIRO, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- The Arab League denounced here Sunday Israel's
mounting moves to Judaize the occupied City of Jerusalem.
The Council of the Arab League at the level of permanent representatives
warned at an extraordinary meeting here against the risks of Israeli
aggressive measures against regional and world stability.
It also cautioned that Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, together with other
Islamic and Christian holy sites were a "red line that must not be crossed".
It added that there would be no peace unless a viable Palestinian state was
created with Jerusalem as its capital.
"All Israeli measures in Jerusalem are null and void in line with
international law and international legitimacy resolutions," it said.
The council also voiced emphatic condemnation of Israeli insistence on
targeting the religious, political, economic and cultural symbols of the
occupied holy city of Jerusalem.
Furthermore, it unveiled an Israeli plan to build 50,000 settlement units
in Jerusalem by 2020 in a bid to reduce the number of Arab residents there.
Therefore, it called on the international community, especially the UN
Security Council, EU and UNESCO, to take on responsibility by protecting
Al-Aqsa Mosque and all other Islamic and Christian holy sites. (end)
