ARBIL, North Iraq, May 19 (KUNA) -- The total casualties of Kirkuk's bombings hit 120 people, said Seddiq Abdulrasoul, Kirkuk health director, on Thursday.
Abdulrasoul said, in statements to KUNA, that 30 people have been killed with no less than 90 others injured, most of them belonging to Iraqi police personnel and security forces along with a number of civilians, as a result of the bombings that rocked the northern Iraqi eponymous capital city of Kirkuk Governorate.
He pointed out that, "some of the injured are in critical condition, while others received treatment and were discharged from hospital." A sticky explosive charge detonated at a private car at a square near to the police headquarters in Kirkuk in what caused the fall of many victims, a source from the Iraqi police in Kirkuk told KUNA.
Today assaults come one day following the detention of the highest commander of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, namely Mekhlif Al-Azzawi, and following a week of the outfit's threats of avenging the killing of its leader Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan at the hands of U.S. commando squad.
