MADRID, May 16 (KUNA) -- FC Barcelona and UN Children Fund (UNICEF) agreed
to extend their cooperation beyond the present agreement that expires next
month.
According to the extension, UNICEF's logo will remain on the FC Barcelona
official jersey for the 2011-12 season but positioned below the player's
number, the club said in a statement.
UNICEF's current place on the jersey will be replaced with the logo of
Qatar Foundation.
For the last five years FC Barcelona has supported UNICEF to improve the
lives of hundreds of thousands of children and provide global brand awareness
for UNICEF.
The next phase of the partnership, said the statement, that is still under
discussion aimed at utilising the social assets of the club in support of a
global movement for education and sport that will deliver tangible results for
children.
FC Barcelona signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with Qatar Foundation
last December, through which the club would get 165 million euros in return of
the logo on the jersey. (end)
