WASHINGTON, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- US President Barack Obama met here Friday at the White House with Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, during which they discussed a wide range of issues, it was announced here Friday.
The White House said in a statement that Obama's discussions with Zardari focused on "our shared efforts to fight terrorism and promote regional stability, specifically on the importance of cooperating toward a peaceful and stable outcome in Afghanistan.
"The President underscored the importance of the US-Pakistan relationship and our continued support for Pakistan," it added.
According to the statement, "the President said he is looking forward to visiting Pakistan later this year.
"The White House indicated that Zardari will attend the memorial service of US Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke this afternoon at the Kennedy Center. (end) si.hb KUNA 142159 Jan 11NNNN
