BERLIN, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- The German defense ministry decided to send
additional 650 soldiers to Afghanistan, a senior German office said Thursday.
The additional troops will be based on Kunduz and Mazar El-Sharif within
the NATO-led International Stability Assistance Force (ISAF), General Eberhard
Zorn, member of the German Command in Afghanistan, said in press remarks here.
The mission of these forces will be to protect citizens in both areas and
rehabilitate the Afghan army, he said.
Germany has 4,900 forces in northern Afghanistan. (end)
