By Ahmad Al-Rifai BEIRUT, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Coach of Kuwait's men basketball team Faisal Buresly attributed the loss the team to Libya's national team in the 20th Arab Basketball Championship Friday evening to the injury of two key players.
Abdulaziz Dhari was injured in the first quarter of the game while Saleh Al-Yousuf was injured shortly after the start of the second quarter, Buresly told KUNA.
"The two players constitute the mainstay of the team; so their loss contributed to the loss of the team.
"The other players did their utmost and offered a wonderful game but were unable to make up for the loss of the two teammates. None of them is to blame for the loss," he affirmed.
"The Kuwaiti team had only a short time to prepare for the tourney; they had to train inside Kuwait. Whereas, the other Arab teams held overseas training camps and played friendly games with major teams, which reflected positively on their performances," Al-Yousuf added.
The team lost to Libya 69-77, its third loss in a raw in the championship. (end) ayr.gb KUNA 172012 Sep 10NNNN
