CAIRO, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- Arab and African officials were meeting here Tuesday to prepare for the Arab-African summit to be held in the Libyan city of Sirt next month, an Arab League official said Tuesday.
Director of Arab Africa Cooperation Department Ambassador Samir Hosni told reporters a preparatory meeting was held for the Executive Committee of the high-ranking investment and trade forum, due in Tripoli, Libya, on September 25-26.
The recommendation of the committee meeting will be referred to the Arab-African summit, due in Sirt on October 10. An Arab extraordinary summit will be also held in Sirt on October 9.
Another meeting will be held tomorrow to prepare the draft political declaration of the Arab-African summit, as well as wording a new strategy for joint cooperation, said Hosni.
Hosni called for further cementing cooperation with the African countries in the political, economic and social domains.
This is the second summit to be held between the Arab and African countries since 1977.
Hosni said Arab and African countries should show further integration and build an Arab-African zone.
On Sudan, Hosni said the Arab League was continuing support for development in Sudan and Darfur in particular, as well as helping in repatriation of refugees. (end) mfm.bs KUNA 142040 Sep 10NNNN
