DAMASCUS, Aug 2 (KUNA) -- Mime performance accompanied with dances narrating the history of Syria marked the launching of Al-Mahaba festival which kicked off Sunday in Latakia, Syria.
The festival held for the 21st time coincides with others held at the Syrian cities of Tartus, Hims and Sweida became the pillar of the country's culture displaying novel art without failing to display aspects of Syria's rich history, Minister of Local Administration Tamir Al-Hija said.
It became an event widely attended by Arab tourists with the variety of sporting, artistic and cultural events it offers, he said.
It groups political seminars and poetic recitations, exhibitions for flowers formative arts, journalism, science sculpting, along with theatres and concerts exhibitions.
Skydiving tournaments grouping participants from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Algeria, Oman, Yemen, Syria, Turkey, and France, in addition to Al-Basil Al-Arabi football championship, the first kick-boxing event, swimming and cycling races are held on the sidelines of the festival.
