ISLAMABAD, July 6 (KUNA) -- Pakistan, China peaceful civil nuclear cooperation is expected to get a strong boost as the leaders of two countries meet in Beijing on Wednesday, it was said here on Tuesday.
President Asif Ali Zardari travelled to China on Tuesday on a six-day visit. Great headway is expected during the visit, said foreign office in a press statement. He would hold key talks with President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, said the statement, adding, "our cooperation is transparent and will be under the IAEA safeguard." Pakistan that faces a huge shortfall of over 3000 MW is urgently in need to meet its requirements through all available means of power generation. The visit that aims at strengthening strategic partnership, would also promote economic and trade cooperation and enhance cultural ties between the two countries, the statement said.
The Presidents talks with Chinese political leadership would focus on joint efforts against terrorism and promotion of regional and international peace and stability, citing foreign office officials, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Since assuming his office in 2008, this is President Zardaris 5th visit to China reflecting the importance of Sino-Pak ties.
President Zardari will also hold a separate meeting with corporate leaders of energy sector to further push Pakistans quest for energy, particularly wind and solar energy, to meet its growing power demands. (end) amn.aff KUNA 062020 Jul 10NNNN
