BAGHDAD, May 11 (KUNA) -- Six Iraqis were killed and 16 others were injured, mostly security personnel, in a double bomb attack a popular market south of the Iraqi capital, one day after deadly bombings in various parts of the country, Iraqi police source said on Tuesday.
The source told KUNA that an improvised bomb exploded in Dora area, south of Baghdad, followed shortly by another improvised bomb which targeted security personnel, who were huddling at the first bombing site, resulting in killing five Iraqi soldiers, including a Colonel, and a bystander.
Meanwhile, unknown armed men opened fire at a military inspection checkpoint east of Baghdad, the attack resulted in the injury of one soldier who was transferred to nearby hospital.
Last night, the country witnessed one of its deadliest days and share of attacks which spread from Baghdad, Babel, Mosul, Faluja, and Basra, killing and injuring hundreds. (end) mhg.mb KUNA 120055 May 10NNNN
