CAIRO, April 22 (KUNA) -- The Arab League on Thursday warned Israel against carrying out its plans to construct a new underground railway system on occupied lands.
In a statement by the Arab league's Palestine and occupied Arab lands department said that reports from Jerusalem, mentioned that Israel has begun planning a quick establishment of the plans, thus to judaize the holy land.
The statement added that Israel intends to establish this by the end of 2010, and that the system will pass under Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli actions are considered a violation of international agreements and resolutions which identify Jerusalem as occupied land, the League underlined.
Israel violates the holy sites that hold cultural, historical, as well as humanitarian meaning. This includes places of worship such as mosques and churches, some of which are 5,000 years-old, the statement added.
The statement called on UNESCO, as well as other international institutions to protect Islamic history, and urged quick intervention to put a stop to these plans.
Furthermore, the statement called against the special treatment Israel recieves, and be dealt with equally as other nations. (end) az.mao KUNA 230056 Apr 10NNNN
