BAGHDAD, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- Baghdad Operations Command has dismantled an 18-member al-Qaeda cell, a security police said here Monday.
Terrorist cell is linked to to al-Qaeda leader Abu Hamza al-Muhajir and Haji Ali Abu Imad, whereas this network is responsible for previous terrorist bombings, including UN building in 2003 and University Mustansiriyah in 2007, Major General Qassim Atta said in a press conference.
Iraqi police arrested 11 members of the terrorist network, including University Mustansiriyah Professor Dr. Ayman Abdel Karim, and killed two others, while three others escaped the country; among them is Abu Azzam who fled to Sweden.
Atta showed a video of the accused Abdel Karim confessing details of al-Qaeda leader Abu Hamza al-Muhajir and terrorist attacks on UN headquarters and University Mustansiriyah.(end) Ohh.hs KUNA 251835 Jan 10NNNN
