KABUL, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- A soldier of the International Security Assistance
Force (ISAF) and a few militants were killed in separate incidents in southern
Afghanistan, the military said on Tuesday.
A statement from NATO headquarters said the British soldier killed in
southern Afghanistan. More than 9,000 British soldiers are presently engaged
in counter-insurgency operations in Afghanistan. Majority of them are
stationed in Helmand province.
Separately, the international troops said they had killed a few militants
and detains another in Ghazni province, located around 120 kilometres south of
the central capital of Afghanistan.
The military said the operation was conduced by the Afghan and ISAF troops
in Andar district. "The security force encountered armed enemy fighters who
resisted and were subsequently killed," said the statement.
It added that eight women and 16 children were protected during the
operation. (end)
