LONDON, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- Five Britons have been detained on 25 November by the Iranian navy while sailing a yacht from Bahrain to Dubai, the Foreign Office has said Monday.
The Foreign Office said it was possible the crew, who are still in Iran, may have "strayed inadvertently into Iranian waters". The five are understood to be safe and well and their families informed, Foreign Secretary David Miliband said in a statement.
The sailors were crewing a boat belonging to "Sail Bahrain" when they were stopped and arrested.
Meanwhile, Britain is hoping to resolve the matter quickly and peacefully, officials said.
Relations between London and Tehran are strained over Irans nuclear crisis. (pickup previous) he.bs KUNA 302228 Nov 09NNNN
