BAGHDAD, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Eleven Iraqi civilians were wounded in a series of blasts that rocked the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Monday, security sources said.
The sources told KUNA that an explosive device planted close to a restaurant on Nidhal Street left two civilians seriously wounded, and caused grave material damage to a car that was being used by a prominent government official whose name was not disclosed.
A second blast at the crossroad of Seven Palaces and Karada left another two people with serious injuries.
Meanwhile at Moussa bin Naseer and Karada crossroad, four people suffered injuries of varying severity when a third explosive device went off.
Half an hour later, an explosive device was detonated under Sanak Bridge on Rasheed Street, wounding a civilian.
In northern Baghdad, Iraqi police said that an explosive device targeting a US unit was detonated, wounding two Iraqis who were close to the area.
All five explosions took place between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. (local time), according to police.
The blasts come just one day after the Iraqi Operations Command broadcast the confessions of three people implicated in the "Bloody Sunday" explosions. The blasts targeted the Justice Ministry and the Baghdad Governorate Council in Salhiya, killing and wounding 1,000 people. (end) mhg.ema KUNA 231323 Nov 09NNNN
