ISLAMABAD, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- The Taliban late Friday claimed responsibility
for the Bannu suicide blast that killed six people and wounded nearly sixty
others.
Qari Hussain, a purported spokesman for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP),
telephoned local newspapers from an undisclosed location and claimed
responsibility for the blast.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Iqbal Marwat told newsmen that the
explosion killed five policemen and a prisoner and wounded nearly sixty
others. The wounded include 24 policemen and 16 civilians.
Local news channels reported that at the time of explosion about one
hundred and fifty policemen were inside the police station, which was
completely destroyed by the huge blast.
Marwat said that the bomber used 20 to 25 kg of explosive material. (pick
