ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (KUNA) -- A huge car bomb explosion greeted the denizens of a northern Pakistani city on the first day of Ramadan, said police and media reports on Saturday. An explosive devise installed in a vehicle exploded with a huge bang outside a Medical Complex in posh Hayatabad area of Peshawar, capital of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), police sources told KUNA. Sources feared casualties but were unable to give any exact figure saying rescue operation was underway. The state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) reported that at least two people have been killed. Sources said that the explosion had caused heavy damage to the medical complex and several nearby parked vehicles. The explosion came as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced to have nominated their new Amir and spokesman. It may be mentioned here that the people of NWFP and bordering tribal belt Saturday observed the first day of holy Ramadan, whereas, the rest of the country will start observing it from Sunday.
