MOSCOW, June 22 (KUNA) -- Russia said Monday it respected the choice of the Iranian people in selecting a president and considered the unrest taking place in the Islamic Republic an "internal affair.
"What is happening in Iran which is related to the Presidential Elections is an internal affair," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
People supporting defeated presidential candidates Mir-Hossein Mosavi and Mahdi Karroubi have been rioting since the announcement of the results, saying the outcome was not correct.
Russia called for addressing internal disputes in line with the Iranian constitution and legislations. (end) KUNA 222136 Jun 09NNNN
