ISLAMABAD, April 25 (KUNA) -- At least nine people were killed and two
others were wounded in a bomb explosion in northern Pakistani district on
Saturday.
The bomb went off, ripping through a house in Lower Dir area, near Sawat
valley, killing five children and four members of a family and critically
wounding two people, police said.
The explosion took place only a few hours before the security forces
reached Lower Dir district of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) as a part of
a crackdown on kidnappers and miscreants.
However, the sources said that government forces were expected to launch an
operation against foreign militants, holed up in the area.
Lower Dir is the hometown of Maulana Sufi Muhammad, the chief peace broker
between the government and Taliban of Sawat valley. (end)
