By Talal Al-Kandari BRUSSELS, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- The Belgian Foreign Ministry voiced hope on Sunday that the first Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit, to be kick off in Kuwait this Monday, would be a success.
Belgium supports the Arab countries and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states in their pursuit of economic integration and development, Francois Gustine, the ministry's advisor for embassies affairs, told KUNA here.
She said that Belgium works with the European Union to help the Arab countries join the World Trade Organization.
The recent dramatic developments in the Middle East resulting from the crisis of Gaza Strip could change the agenda of the Arab summit, she pointed out, noting that here government backed the international efforts aiming to implement an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Gustine expressed hope that the summit will help stop the tragedy of Gaza and achieve comprehensive development in the Arab region. (end) tm.gb.
